To every labor and birth, I bring my heart and hands.
I also bring several items that can be used to help you achieve the birth you want.

The Interview (No-Cost, No-Obligation)

  • An interview will be set up during a phone conversation. I encourage you and your partner to interview more than one doula to find the one that best suits your needs. During our interview, I will ask some questions to assess your needs. I will give you a copy of my contract to take home, read and discuss. This will outline the fine details of our arrangement. This meeting does not obligate you.

  • A contract can be signed at a later date. A deposit will be made at this time.

Prenatal Visits

  • We will discuss your birth needs and philosophy in more detail. I can help you prepare your birth plan. This includes coming up with an agreement on when and where to meet you when you go into labor.

  • I will give you some information to help you make your decisions. This can be in the form of a suggested reading list of articles, books and websites.

  • I may give you homework.

  • We will go over and practice techniques for relaxation, comfort measures, benefits/risks of medications and interventions.

  • These visits will be 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Labor and Delivery

  • I will be on call 24 hours a day beginning at 38 weeks.

  • I request that you call me when you think you are in labor. If you feel that you do not need my physical support yet, please call anyway. I may be able to provide suggestions and answer questions. Please keep in mind that I will need time to meet you.

  • When I arrive to be your support, I will provide continuous support during your labor and delivery. If you are not in true labor and are sent home after arriving at the birth center/hospital, we will assess the situation to determine further support.

  • If you have a long labor, I reserve the right to take breaks (up to 30 minutes) and/or call in a backup for temporary relief.

  • I will stay for an hour or two after the birth and can help with the first feeding.

Postpartum Visits

  • We will meet after the birth to review the birth, answer questions and admire the baby.
